re-edge is a spatial model and perspective study exploring the interplay of layered light and depth. Reinterpreting Muti Randolph’s D-Edge interior, the project examines how linear light installations define perspective, using precise geometry and diffuse reflections to translate dynamic club architecture into a balanced spatial composition.

The physical model (20×25×35cm) is a spatial lighting study inspired by Muti Randolph’s D-Edge. To enhance the illusion of depth, the walls and ceiling are deliberately angled to create a forced perspective. The light slits are mathematically adapted to these inclines: both the lateral lines and the tapering frontal slits were individually measured in cross-section and offset by the material thickness to ensure clear visibility. Integrated crossbeams stabilize the construction and echo Randolph’s grid logic, guiding the gaze deep into the space.
Rather than using a harsh red typical of club interiors, a soft cyan-blue was chosen to calm the atmosphere and soften the rigid orthogonal edges. A layer of sketch paper between the colored foil and the frame diffuses the light, while a blurred lateral reflection replaces a sharp mirror image. This subtle interplay creates a balanced contrast between crisp geometric lines and atmospheric softness.
